Matthew Pines

Executive Director, Bitcoin Policy Institute; Former Director of Intelligence, SentinelOne

Matthew Pines is the Executive Director of the Bitcoin Policy Institute, where he oversees operational execution, special programs, and strategic engagement. He has been a fellow and advisor to BPI since its founding, contributing research and analysis at the intersection of Bitcoin, national security, and geopolitics.

‍He was previously the Director of Intelligence for PinnacleOne, the Strategic Advisory Group within SentinelOne. There he led cyber risk advisory and strategic intelligence solutions for multinational and critical technology firms exposed to geopolitical, policy, and espionage threats. He has over thirteen years of experience helping the government and private sector firms address pressing security and resilience challenges. He has conducted dozens of assessments of national preparedness, emerging technology, and strategic security programs for the U.S. government.

‍He holds a master’s degree in Philosophy and Public Policy (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Philosophy (with Honors) from Johns Hopkins University.
