Disclosure Foundation Calls on The Wall Street Journal to Correct UAP Reporting Errors, Urges National Press Club to Rescind Journalism Award

Christopher Mellon requests corrections to the Journal’s UAP reporting and asks the National Press Club to rescind its award to the articles’ authors.
The Disclosure Foundation is calling on The Wall Street Journal to correct errors in its June 2025 reporting on unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) and on the National Press Club to rescind the journalism award given to the articles’ authors.
In the letter below, Foundation Chairman Christopher Mellon outlines concerns about the articles’ treatment of sources, factual claims, and omitted evidence. The letter asks both institutions to uphold standards of accuracy and accountability in reporting on a consequential national security issue.

Original letter to The Wall Street Journal
On June 26, 2025, Christopher K. Mellon, then Chairman of the UAP Disclosure Fund, wrote to Wall Street Journal reporters Joel Schectman and Aruna Viswanatha and Corrections Editor Judi Walsh requesting corrections to the newspaper’s June 2025 UAP coverage. The UAP Disclosure Fund subsequently became the Disclosure Foundation.
The letter challenged the reporting’s treatment of Dr. Eric Davis’s statements and its conflation of the Art Bell sample with other materials discussed in The New York Times. It also raised concerns about the account of the 1967 Malmstrom Air Force Base incident and the omission of statements by the Pentagon’s then-current UAP office director. Mellon asked the Journal to correct the errors and omissions detailed in the letter.
